ESTHER GATÓN [SPAIN]
PhD in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, she has furthered her education at the University of Liège, Barcelona, and this year at Goldsmiths, London, where she obtained her MFA. She creates site-specific environments through sculptures, audiovisual pieces, or lighting. Her work distorts the inherent meanings of materials, giving rise to forms that alter our movement or posture, as the dominant form is not the one the object takes but the one it compels us to take.
Her work has been exhibited in institutions such as Matadero Madrid, La Casa Encendida, Museo Patio Herreriano, Museo Picasso Barcelona, Fabra i Coats, Etopía Zaragoza, Biblioteca Rio Grande in Brazil, CENTEX Valparaíso in Chile, and The Watch in Berlin. She has published texts in La Raya Verde, El Estado Mental, Materiales Concretos, and Nero.
