In the summer of 2013 when she personally met the artist Miquel Barceló and got amazed by his work as an artist and artisan, she decided to change the course of her studies. She travelled to New York to study figurative sculpture and abstract painting at The Art Students League with Barney Hodes and Pat Lipsky. Both of them, with successful and lifelong careers, took Berta under their guidance teaching her their profession for the two following years. In 2015 she attended the Florence Academy of Art in Italy to broaden her knowledge in anatomy and learn the classical method of clay modeling with a life model. Following her intuition and deep interest in this material, she chose the Escola de Ceràmica in La Bisbal d’ Empordà to acquire knowledge and, more precisely, the application of colour in ceramics. In 2016 BertaBlanca received the sculpture grant from Fundació Güell and developed the project Mujer Vacío exhibited in Palau Güell, a landmark building by Antoni Gaudí.In 2019 the artist developed the project “ la historia de Berenice”
that consisted of a series of engravings and mixed media paintings, in the artistic residency at the Xalubinia Center Internacional de Gravat. in 2020, she created studio Omotesando together with film director Max Larruy, where she focused on video-art projects, installation and performance. -
