VALENTINA MAGGIOLO

(Lima, Peru, 1987)

Valentina Maggiolo began her studies in Geography and Environmental Studies. After a career change, she transferred to the College of Art and graduated with a BFA in Painting and Art History from the Rhode Island School of Design.

The themes explored mainly in her painting are time, its elasticity and the existence of the human being within it. These explorations take place through semi-figurative landscapes with animal, vegetable and mineral elements. Her inspiration stems from her love of pre-Columbian archaeology, rocks and bones.

Valentina has participated in residences directly linked to the natural environment both in Peru, on the coast of Lurin, and abroad, in the Banff National Park, Canada. She has shown her work in collective exhibitions since 2013. Simultaneously, she has had two individual exhibitions in the city of Lima in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, she was awarded with a Special Mention in the X National Painting Contest of the Central Reserve Museum of Peru. In 2021 she studied Fresco painting techniques at Accademia del Giglio in Florence, Italy.

Valentina currently lives and works in her studio Espacio Perro Blanco in Lima.
