Biography
The artist Valentina Maggiolo, started her studies in Geography & Environment. After a career change, she transferred to the School of Art and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Painting and Art History at the Rhode Island School of Design.
The themes explored primarily in Maggiolo's paintings are time, its elasticity, and the existence of the human being within it. These explorations are carried out through semi-figurative landscapes with elements of animals, plants, and minerals. Her inspiration stems from their love for pre-Columbian archaeology, rocks, and bones.
Maggiolo has participated in residencies directly linked to the natural environment, both in Peru, on the coast of Lurin, and abroad, in Canada's Banff National Park. She has exhibited in group shows since 2013. Simultaneously, she has had two solo exhibitions in the city of Lima in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, the artist was named a finalist and received an Honorable Mention in the 10th National Painting Contest at the Central Reserve Museum of Peru.
Currently, Maggiolo lives and works in her studio in Lima, Peru.
